Safety and Verification

Finding a spouse online should feel safe. Here is what we do to protect members, what we cannot do, and what you can do to protect yourself.

What we do

  • Phone and email verification. Every member confirms a mobile number and an email address before using the community. This makes it harder to create mass fake accounts.
  • Photo moderation. Profile photos are reviewed by our moderators. Photos that are not of you, are inappropriate or break our rules are removed.
  • Membership to message. Private messaging is available to paying members, which discourages the throwaway accounts that scammers rely on.
  • Reporting and removal. You can report a member or a message. We review reports and can warn, restrict, suspend or remove accounts. Serious cases may be passed to the police.
  • Privacy by design. Private message text is not included in notification emails or push notifications.
  • Adults only. You must be 18 or older to join.

What we cannot do

We do not run criminal-record or identity-document checks, and we cannot guarantee anyone’s identity, honesty or intentions. Verification confirms that a person controls a phone number and an email address; it does not prove who they say they are. Your own caution is the strongest protection.

Warning signs of a romance scam

  • They ask for money, airtime, school fees, hospital bills, travel or customs costs, or a “business investment”. Never send money to someone you have not met in person.
  • They declare strong feelings within days and quickly want to move to a private chat.
  • They say they are abroad, in the military, or on an oil rig, and cannot video call or meet.
  • Their photos look too perfect, or the details of their story keep changing.
  • They pressure you to hurry, keep secrets from family and friends, or send intimate pictures.

If you see any of these, stop contacting the person and report the profile to us.

Staying safe when you meet

  • Talk for a while and have at least one video call before you meet.
  • Meet first in a public place during the day, and tell a trusted friend or family member where you are going and who you are meeting.
  • Arrange your own transport and do not share your home address early.
  • Trust your instincts. You can leave at any time.

Protect your account

  • Use a strong, unique password and never share your verification codes. We will never ask for your password, PIN or a code.
  • Do not share intimate images; once sent, you cannot control where they go.
